BIODYNAMIC FARM:
On the farm of Labby located on the Pernajanlahti Bay you can both feel
the beat of a living biodynamic farm and enjoy the piece and quiet of the
archipelago. In addition to forests and cultivated fields, the estate includes
40 ha of traditional biotopes grazed by calving cows, native sheep and an indigenous
horse. The farm produces e.g. spelt wheat, herbs and vegetables, which are processed
into herbal tea and seasoning mixtures and muesli.
In Kaarnaranta at some 3 km from Labby farm centre, bed and breakfast or self-catering
accommodation is available in the surroundings of an early 20th century sawmill. The
atmospheric rooms decorated following ecological principles sleep a total of 18. Breakfast
and other meals provided, a café. All agricultural products are organic with spelt bread
and herbal products as specialities. Also camping.
SURROUNDINGS AND WHAT TO DO:
The farms offers learning opportunities either by study or practical work on themes including
cultivation, herbal medicine,

cooking, caring for the environment and for trees, singing,
traditional paints, renovating buildings and dyeing. Guided farm or local history tours,
tours to ancient monuments and natural meadows. Also nature trails, canoeing routes and
local museums. The Pernajanlahti Bay is a Natura area with many bird sanctuaries close by.

Public transport: Railway station in Helsinki or Lahti, 70 km. Bus stop 1 km.
Cars/bikes: From Porvoo follow Road 1571 to the east for 22 km (signposted to Isnäs).
From T junction in Isnäs, follow signposts to Kaarnaranta. Also mooring for boats.
